MFI Mutual Fund Data Feb 2026: Net Equity Inflow Rises to ₹25,977 Crore
AMFI February 2026: Indian Investors Double Down on Equity as AUM Hits ₹82 Lakh Crore
The latest numbers from the Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) for February 2026 are out, and the message is loud and clear: The Indian retail investor is the new "Big Boy" on Dalal Street. Despite a volatile global backdrop, net equity inflows rose to ₹25,977.91 crore, up from ₹24,028 crore in January. The total Industry AUM has now scaled a massive new peak of ₹82.02 lakh crore.
1. Equity is King; Gold Takes a Backseat
The most striking part of the February data is the divergence between Asset Classes.
Equity Resilience: Net inflows grew Month-on-Month (MoM), showing that SIP culture is now deeply institutionalized.
Gold ETF Crash: After a record-breaking January where Gold ETFs saw ₹24,040 cr in inflows, February saw a sharp 78% fall to just ₹5,255 cr. Investors who rushed to gold during the initial war scare seem to be rotating back into equities as "FOMO" (Fear Of Missing Out) on the stock market recovery kicks in.
2. Large Caps Gaining Momentum
For the second month in a row, Large Cap funds are seeing a steady increase in interest.
Large Cap Inflow: ₹2,111.7 cr (up from ₹2,005 cr).
The Shift: As mid and small-cap valuations remain rich, smart money is slowly moving back into the "Safety of the Giants." This aligns with our recent analysis of the AssetPlus recommendations, where large-cap stability is becoming a key portfolio pillar.
3. The Hybrid "Cool Down"
Hybrid funds—which include Balanced Advantage and Multi-Asset schemes—saw a drop in net inflows to ₹11,983 crore from the previous ₹17,356 crore. This suggests that investors are becoming more decisive: they are either going "Full Equity" or staying in "Debt/Liquid," rather than sticking to the middle ground.
4. Overall Industry Health
While the total net inflow for the industry (including Debt) dropped to ₹94,530 crore from ₹1.56 lakh crore, the Total AUM growth to ₹82.02 lakh crore is the headline that matters. This represents a massive pool of domestic capital that acts as a cushion against foreign (FII) selling.
The Apollo Alpha Take: We are witnessing the "Financialization of Savings" in real-time. With the market bottoming out recently and oil prices cooling off, these February inflows provided the liquidity that helped the market survive the "Black Monday" shock.
Conclusion
February’s data confirms that the Indian investor is no longer scared of market corrections; they are using them to build long-term wealth. With the industry AUM marching toward the ₹100 lakh crore mark, India’s path to becoming the world's No. 2 economy is being funded by your monthly SIPs.
